A megachurch in Houston has opened its doors to a Texas Jewish congregation for the high holy days after Hurricane Harvey flooded the shul. Lakewood Church, which has 16,800 worshippers, is home of televangelist Joel Osteen. It will host Congregation Beth Yeshurun, which has 2,000 member families.

An Argentinian prosecutor who alleged that his government had covered up Iran’s involvement in the 1994 bombing of a Jewish centre in Buenos Aires was murdered, an official report has found. Alberto Nisman was due to unveil explosive evidence hours before he was found dead at his home.

A former Warsaw Ghetto fighter has won a legal case against a Polish company which published his love letters to his romantic partner at the time. Simcha Rotem, 92, who lives in Israel, successfully sued PWN, which published his letters without Rotem’s knowledge or consent in a book about Irena Gelblum.

More than 500 people attended a signing ceremony on Sunday after Israeli non-profit Shalva agreed to extend its operations to Russia. The Jerusalem-based charity helps children with disabilities. Jerusalem’s mayor, Nir Barkat, attended the lavish signing ceremony, hosted by billionaire Mikhail Fridman.
