Yavneh College rated ‘Good’ in latest Ofsted report

First inspection in 12 years of Hertfordshire school found personal development and sixth form provision both 'outstanding'

Yavneh College

Yavneh College has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in the inspectors’ first visit in twelve years.

The inspection examined every aspect of the school’s work across teaching and learning, curriculum, pupil outcomes, personal development and leadership.

The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes and leadership and management were all rated ‘Good’, with sixth form provision and personal development rated ‘Outstanding’.

Executive headteacher, Mr Spencer Lewis said: “Ofsted is a tough, rigorous process but we are delighted to read what the inspectors had to say about our school, there is so much of which to be proud.”

Inspectors found that pupils thrive within the schools’ tight -knit community, the curriculum is ambitious and thoroughly planned, pupils achieve impressive examination results and sixth form students reach levels of scholarship usually found at degree level studies.

The report found that “occasionally” staff do not support pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and recommended Yavneh “continue training staff so that they consistently arrange learning opportunities that meet the needs of pupils.”

Lewis added that “there are, as there should be a few areas for improvement identified but as the report recognises, we are already working on these.

“Yavneh College is one of the highest performing schools in the entire country. We are incredibly proud of our pupils who again in 2023 did amazingly well, especially those with special educational needs who actually outperformed their peers.

“Ofsted saw that Yavneh College graduates ‘enter the world ready to work towards the school’s vision of Olam Chesed Yibaneh – A World Built on Kindness’, that they ‘demonstrate the school’s values’ and that ‘pupils learn the value of chesed, while assuming leadership positions and taking responsibility for themselves and others’ is extremely gratifying.

“The entire Yavneh family is incredibly proud of this report”.
