Experts to discuss outbreaks over the years in wake of coronavirus during 'The Plagues Project'

What better discussion point during the mass lockdowns of a coronavirus pandemic than plagues throughout Jewish history?

That is the rationale behind an online event coordinated from Tel Aviv and California bringing together 30 leading Jewish thinkers reflecting on how Jews have perceived plagues throughout history.

Subjects include the theme of plagues in Hollywood, unearthing the story of the 10 plagues of Egypt through archaeology and the Jewish household during lockdown.

The Plagues Project is a collaboration of five Jewish organisations, including BINA: The Jewish Movement for Social Change, whose deputy director Nir Braudo said: “Plagues play an important role in Jewish learning and Jewish history.
