3,000 raise dough on Bake Day

Around 3,000 people nationwide helped raise plenty of dough by taking part in Jewish Care’s first ever Great Jewish Bake Day.

Events were held at private homes, schools and other communal organisations, while residents of nine of the charity’s care homes also took part in bake day sessions while six kosher bakeries created special cakes to raise additional funds.

Among the highlights of the Day were residents of Jewish Care’s Rela Goldhill Lodge joining forces with Habonim Dror to bake cakes for local homeless people and children from Edgware & Harrow Reform Synagogue Nursery learning how to bake with people from Edgware & Harrow Community Centre.

Lola’s Cupcakes also donated hundreds of delicious cakes.

Daniel Carmel-Brown, Jewish Care’s Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said: “This is true community fundraising, ranging from individuals hosting their own event, through to resources holding Bake Days and community organisations supporting the event too.  We want to thank everyone across the community who took part.

“This year Jewish Care needs to raise £15 million from the community just to keep our vital services going, in these tough times every penny raised will make a real difference to the 7,000 people and their families who rely on us each week.”
