Opposition Leader Isaac Herzog

Isaac Herzog is to be quizzed by hundreds of community members at a special Jewish News event in north London later this month.

Israel’s Opposition leader will be interviewed on stage about his career, the recent elections that many expected would propel him to the premiership and his hopes for Israel’s future, before fielding questions selected by the audience.

The event on the evening of 21 June is partnered by the Board of Deputies, Jewish Leadership Council, We Believe in Israel, Labour Friends of Israel and the Israel Solidarity Campaign.

Jewish news editor Richard Ferrer said: “Jewish News has been delighted to provide readers with unique opportunities to quiz leading UK politicians face-to-face over the past five years but this is the first such event with a top Israeli politician.

“We are delighted that Bougie has agreed to take the hot seat for what promises to be a fascinating evening.”

The event comes a day before Zionist Union chairman Herzog addresses members of the policy community at Jewish News’ first annual policy conference – which is timed to coincide with the formation of new governments in both countries and just days before the deadline for a deal on Iran’s nuclear programme.

Among the others speakers at the full-day UK-Israel shared strategic challenges conference – partnered by BICOM – will be new deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom, Yesh Atid chief Yair Lapid, Israeli Ambassadors to the UN and UK Ron Prosor and Daniel Taub and former US Middle East envoy Dennis Ross. Martin Indyk, who represented the White House in the most recent round of Israeli-Palestinian talks, will conduct a live interview by video link.

Free tickets for the public Q and a on 21 June at a north London venue can be booked on a first come first served basis. To book, please CLICK HERE.

Doors will open at 7pm, and the event will begin at 7.45 pm.
