An unconscious coupling which might encourage more attendance at zoom batmitzvahs

The Temple Beth El in Minneapolis was hosting a batmitzvah ceremony online when a couple got intimate - without realising they had not switched their camera off

A couple who had joined a batmitzvah on Zoom forgot to turn their camera off before having sex.

The Temple Beth El in Minneapolis was hosting the ceremony online when the pair got intimate – without realising they had not switched their camera off.

They started caressing each other in front of congregants and were seen walking around naked and engaging in sexual activities for almost an hour before another person on the Zoom call phoned them to alert them.

“It went on for about 45 minutes,” one person told the New York Post.

“She was walking around naked, she got dressed, she’s in and out of the Zoom, he was in the bed, he whipped it out, she started going to work.

“Someone on the Zoom saw and called her and was like, ‘WTF are you doing? You’re on camera.’ She freaked out.

“It was a Zoom for a bat mitzvah. Most people were not on camera except like, the old bubbes… who don’t know how to turn off their camera, and these two people.

“The boxes were pretty big and everyone could see who was on camera.”

It is not known how many participants used focus mode or spotlighted the couple during the ceremony – or whether the video is widely available.

Sex is one activity encouraged on the sabbath by the Talmud.

Maybe all he wanted to do was send an email to the spam folder.

Matt Walzer, managing director Temple Beth El, said: “I’m aware of the incident and won’t be commenting on the details.”
