Anti-Defamation League director Abe Foxman to step down

The long-time national director of the Anti-Defamation League is stepping down after almost half a century working for the New York-based Jewish organisation.

Abraham Foxman, 73, who will leave on July 20, said the ADL was for him the “perfect vehicle” for fighting anti-Semitism and other forms of oppression.

Mr Foxman, who led the ADL for 27 years, was born in the Soviet Union, survived the Holocaust as a hidden child and moved to the United States with his parents. The ADL has 30 regional offices in the United States and one in Israel.
