Barnet Council ‘Bad Driving Day’ to allow triple parking on Golders Green High Road

Barnet Council has launched a new initiative it claims will drastically reduce bad driving.

From 1 April, all residents with a driving licence will be required to take part in a mandatory Bad Driving Day where they will intentionally break all traffic rules and regulations in a safe and controlled environment.

Bad Driving Day will include the chance to triple park on Golders Green High Road outside Kosher Kingdom, eat a cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel while middle lane hogging at 12mph and slamming on the brakes without warning to let your child out the car directly outside school.

Barnet Council safety officer Mordi Chai said: “The purpose of this day is to allow drivers to experience the consequences of reckless driving and gain a better understanding of the importance of safe practices. Participants will be encouraged to perform Taylor Swift TikTok live mimes at traffic lights and antisocially honk their horns as obnoxiously as they can to grab the attention of someone they vaguely recognise eating at Novellino. There will also be the chance to park across driveways and blind helpless bike riders with your headlights.”

He added: “To ensure safety, drivers will be required to wear special helmets and safety gear, and all vehicles will be equipped with features to prevent accidents and injuries. This initiative will help improve driving habits and make our roads safer for everyone.”
