BBC iPlayer has snapped up the reboot of popular teen drama Gossip Girl.

Developed by showrunner Joshua Safran, a writer and executive producer on the original series, the revamped drama returns to the Upper East Side, where privileged teenagers are subjected to their loves, lies and scandals being exposed by anonymous blogger “Gossip Girl” (voiced by Kristen Bell).

The series is based on the bestselling novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and the original show, developed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

BBC iPlayer will also be home to every episode of the original series, which ran from 2007 to 2012.

The series stars Tavi Gevinson, Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith.

Gossip Girl is set to air on BBC iPlayer later this year.
