Bibi: ‘Jerusalem will not return to be a wounded city – We will keep it united’

Jerusalem will not be divided between Arabs and Jews, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday at an official Jerusalem Day ceremony in the capital.

Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) commemorates the unification of Jerusalem under Israel, during the 1967 Six Day War.

Before 1967, Jerusalem had been partially held by Jordan, including the old city, and Temple Mount.

Speaking at the ceremony commemorating the war dead from that conflict on Jerusalem’s Ammunition Hill, Netanyahu vowed that Jerusalem won’t become once again a” wounded and bisected city.”

He said: “Forty-eight years ago, the division of Jerusalem was ended and we returned to be united.”

“Its division led to dishevelment. Its unification led to its growth. Jerusalem will not return to be a wounded city. We will keep Jerusalem united under Israeli authority.”

“On this special day it is clear to us that a divided Jerusalem is a memory. The future belongs to the complete Jerusalem that shall never again be divided,” he said.
