Bibi views Balfour Declaration during visit to British Library
Benjamin Netanyahu has visited the British Library, where he was shown the Balfour Declaration.
The Israeli leader is in the UK to discuss bilateral ties, but spared some time to visit the world-reknowned library on Thursday.
Mr Netanyahu was shown a range of collection items relating to Jewish and Israeli history. This included the Balfour Declaration, which affirmed British support for a Jewish State, and a book by Netanyahu’s father/
The library holds one of the most significant collections of Hebrew manuscripts in the world, including a 15th century Lisbon Bible, a 14th century Barcelona Haggadah, and a 16th century Festival Prayer book, rite of Avignon, (France, 1541).
The British Library agreed a partnership with The National Library of Israel (NLI) to digitise and make available online 860 Hebrew manuscripts from their collection.
