Bowman pledges to create ‘transparent and accountable’ Board if elected president
Board presidential candidate Amanda Bowman has published a manifesto on her campaign website
Board of Deputies presidential candidate Amanda Bowman has vowed to make the organisation more “transparent and accountable” if she wins the contest.
In broad pledges published on her campaign website the Hampstead Synagogue deputy promises to introduce a “respect and civility code” to the communal organisation.
“I won’t tolerate attempts to exclude people just because others disagree with them,” she says.
Her manifesto also contains a pledge to look into developing a social media blitz to “counter the normalisation of antisemitism in today’s society”.
The current vice-president of the organisation and head of its defence division for the past six years, also plans to to address “the increasingly toxic culture in public life” if elected by the 300 deputies in the May 12th election.
Marie van der Zyl stands down as president having served two terms in office.
Bowman faces a challenge to become president from Michael Ziff, Phil Rosenberg and Shelia Gewolb.
