‘Bridge the Gap’ initiative to encourage Jews to reach out to other faiths

A new interfaith initiative conceived by a London rabbi launched this week, with organisers asking Jews to make contact with those of other faiths.

‘Bridge the Gap’ is a Camden-based campaign launching on Thursday 28 May and featuring art, poetry and music in what organisers says will be an opportunity to “reach out to someone of a different faith”. 

Events will be taking place between 13.00 and 20.00 in Middle Yard at Camden Market. Participants are being asked to “pop in on an elderly neighbour or strike up a chat with someone different to you, maybe someone on the bus or in a shop” and share the images on Twitter. 

The initiative is the brainchild of Rabbi Shlomo Levin of South Hampstead synagogue and is being supported by Daniela Pears, Mayoress of Camden who, together with her husband Trevor, has been among the most active interfaith champions in the Jewish community.
