British F-35s train alongside Israeli and US fighter jets in joint-drill

Britain’s F-35 stealth fighter jets were flown in formation alongside Israeli and US aircraft as part of a routine training exercise, the millitary said.

The new cutting-edge warplanes were deployed yesterday as part of a half-day exercise in Cyprus with Israeli and US forces to develop capabilities.

Some estimates have put the overall cost of each jet at as much as £150 million when logistics and support are taken into account.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) shared a photo from the drill, adding: “United by common threats, strengthened by common goals.”


Britain currently has 17 F-35Bs and has pledged to purchase 138 in total from American Aviation giant Lockheed Martin.
