Camden Momentum meeting targets Jon Lansman but Chris Williamson tops agenda

Chris Williamson will be top of the agenda at Momentum Camden’s next general meeting in Kentish Town today.

The Labour MP’s suspension is the first item on an 11-point agenda, above Brexit and “a motion on kids striking against climate change.”

The general meeting will also includes “discussion of actions of Jon Lansman” and the “upcoming ‘trial’ of Jackie Walker’”.

Former Momentum vice-chair Jackie Walker, who has twice been suspended by Labour, is expected to finally face a hearing later this month.

Jon Lansman, the Jewish founder of Momentum, told Radio 4 last month that Labour has a “much larger” group of members with hardcore antisemitic views than previously thought and, at the height of the summer row of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism, backed its adoption with examples in order to build bridges with the community.

Last week, Labour National Executive Committee member Pete Wilsman admitted to threatening to “do in” Lansman in a spat over antisemitism.

On Monday, Lansman retweeted a thread written by Barnet Young Labour disability officer Luisa Attfield about shocking antisemitic posts shared on pro-Jeremy Corbyn Facebook posts.

Lansman added: “I  speak out about antisemitism as a Jewish socialist and antiracist because of the grossly offensive material I see in cases at Labour’s NEC which I may not reveal, but which is very like what you can see in this thread and in so many online cesspits that claim to be pro-Corbyn.”
