Outlawed neo-Nazis continued tweeting two weeks after ban

A white nationalist continued his racist rants against Jews on the Twitter account of the banned neo-Nazi group National Action for two weeks after it was outlawed.

Jack Renshaw, a former leader of the British National Party’s (BNP) youth group, continued using Twitter until 30 December, despite the group being proscribed as a terror organisation on 16 December.

As MPs debated whether to ban the group, which celebrated the murder of Labour parliamentarian Jo Cox, Renshaw tweeted: “A good time to come back to Twitter. The Jews will learn that they can ban an organisation but they cannot ban an idea.”

The Sunday Times reported that Twitter only closed accounts related to National Action two weeks after the group was officially outlawed, and almost three weeks after reports emerged that Home Secretary Amber Rudd planned to do so.

At the time, she said: “National Action is a racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic organisation which stirs up hatred, glorifies violence and promotes a vile ideology. It has absolutely no place in Britain.”
