Jewish charity buildings get fire safety all-clears after Grenfell

Communal charities reassured the public this week that none of their buildings have failed fire safety tests in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Both Jewish Care and Norwood are reviewing their measures following the deadly inferno, which killed 79 people.

Ian Grimes of Jewish Care said: “Some of our buildings contain cladding but none have aluminium containing material cladding such as Reynobond. We have reviewed our control measures that are in place for fire safety, and will of course continue to do so. Jewish Care are confident that our fire risk assessments are in place and up to date.”

A spokesperson for Norwood said: “None of our buildings have failed recent safety tests or have cladding. We carry out annual fire risk assessments on all buildings, and we test and review them regularly, across the year, in relation to each individual property and its use – making changes accordingly.”
