Chazak leads 700 Jews through Hendon to celebrate new Sefer Torah
A new organisation for young Sephardi Jews led 700 people through the streets of Hendon on Sunday for the dedication of a new Sefer Torah.
The day of celebrations, co-ordinated by Chazak, started with a procession from the home of Shuli and Ahuva Myers and ended at the new Sephardic community centre in Brent Street, which is expected to become a hub for the 25,000-strong community.
“As the first of its kind for young Sephardi Jews, it is indicative of a new and incredibly exciting chapter for Sephardic communal life,” said Rabbi Shlomo Farhi, the director of Aish UK’s schools programme who founded Chazak three years ago.
@ShlomoFarhi thank you for an amazing afternoon. What a way to launch the new #Chazak centre. Chazak Ve ematz! pic.twitter.com/bswxz2AYuY
