Chief Rabbi attends ‘moving and inspiring’ Peres funeral

UK dignitaries to Shimon Peres funeral included the Prince of Wales, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and ex-prime ministers David Cameron and Tony Blair.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis sat next to David Cameron during the event on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem, at Israel’s national military cemetery

Mires called the event: “A truly remarkable atmosphere here at the funeral of Shimon Peres z”l. Moving and inspiring in equal measure.”

The event saw dignitaries from across the world pay tribute to Israel’s former president and prime minister.

Guests included US president Barack Obama and former-president Bill Clinton, Pope Francis, Mahmoud Abbas, French political Francois Hollande and Board of Deputies of British Jews President Jonathan Arkush.
