Chief Rabbi: ‘I’d never dignify Galloway candidacy by meeting him’

There is “no way” the Chief Rabbi would meet George Galloway, his spokesman has said.

The London mayoral candidate had said he would be “honoured” to meet Ephraim Mirvis in the wake of talks the latter held yesterday with the Tory and Labour candidates Zac Goldsmith and Sadiq Khan.

Asked whether the Chief would meet the former Bradford MP should he request it, a spokesman said: “There is no chance that the Chief Rabbi would dignify Mr Galloway’s candidacy for Mayor of London by meeting him.”

He added: “If Mr Galloway would genuinely like to meet the Chief Rabbi – a remark to a journalist strikes me as an odd way of trying to achieve it. You’ll have to forgive me for doubting the sincerity of this spokesman.”
