The prayer has been altered by Rabbi Mirvis to reflect the Queen's historic 90th birthday

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis has issued a specially revised prayer for the Royal Family to mark The Queen’s 90th Birthday for one Shabbat only.

It reads: “We offer our gratitude for the blessings You have bestowed upon our gracious and noble Sovereign throughout the ninety years of her life.

“In Your infinite wisdom, You have guided the hand of Her Majesty the Queen and made her a worthy Monarch who loves peace, inspires loving-kindness and champions the finest values of our society. May she continue to reign in good health for many years to come.”

In April Mirvis and his wife Valerie were overnight guests at Windsor Castle where they celebrated The Queen’s birthday and presented her with a gold-framed watercolour of the prayer for the Royal family on behalf of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth.

This weekend, street parties are being held around the country as city halls get set to mark the occasion, and both the Church of England and the Catholic Church have also issued special prayers.
