Community news roundup: 26-31 August

Israeli Dance Institute

A commemorative tea party, Israeli dance and a lesson in scuba diving: this week’s community news roundup.

West London Synagogue held an Edwardian-themed tea to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First Word War, with waiters and waitresses dressed in appropriate costumes.

The tea was followed by an interfaith service with specially selected readings and representatives from five local churches attended, along with the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Audrey Lewis, her chaplain and standard bearer.

There was also an exhibition showing advertising and recruitment posters from the era, together with a special section on the Jews and the Great War.

The Israeli Dance Institute is to restructure its approach to performances as it looks to involve more people to present a positive side of Israel through dance.
Four aqua enthusiasts  from Ravenswood, Norwood’s Berkshire home for adults with learning difficulties, have been honing their water skills by learning to scuba dive.
