CST condemns ‘appalling’ abuse directed at Tracy-Ann Oberman

The Community Security Trust has issued a statement condemning the abuse directed at Tracy-Ann Oberman after it emerged she had paid damages to the founder of a minor political party over antisemitism claims.

The actress, 55,, best known for her role as Chrissie Watts on the BBC soap opera Eastenders, acknowledged her allegations against Dr Phillip Proudfoot last year were “hurtful” and confirmed she had paid damages.

Jewish News understands she was targeted with abuse online following Tuesday’s announcement, including remarks that were antisemitic.

In a statement on Thursday, CST said: “CST utterly condemns the abuse that @TracyAnnO has faced in recent days.

“She always been a stalwart campaigner against antisemitism, and has always been the target of antisemitism and misogyny as a result. It is appalling that this continues.”
