Delegates from United Synagogue’s smaller communities share inspiration

More than 60 delegates from over 20 of the United Synagogue’s smaller communities came together for their annual conference.

These included Chairs, Honorary Officers and council members.

The conference is an opportunity for networking amongst the volunteer leaders of the smaller communities, as well as giving ideas and inspiration for them to take back to their respective communities.

Attendees were welcomed by United Synagogue President Michael Goldstein, who shared some valuable insights from his time as chair of Mill Hill United.

A range of speakers gave talks on topics including volunteering, Shabbat mornings and collaboration.

Sheila Mann, from Kingston, Surbiton & District Synagogue, said: “It was wonderful to hear from other similar size communities their ideas, some of which we may adopt.”

The Chief Rabbi, who delivered the keynote address, said: “Your outstanding leadership is enabling our communities to grow and thrive. Thank you!”

Michael Goldstein, president of the United Synagogue, said: “This conference has many aims, one of which is to bring our smaller community delegates together to talk to each other, and to share the love and passion they have for their communities. We like to use the word family at the United Synagogue, and the beauty of a small community is exactly that.”
