Donald Trump would move U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem if elected

Donald Trump would move the United States Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The front-running republican presidential candidate outlined his support for the move on a recent television interview.

Rivals for the Republican nomination, senators Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio already support the move.  Trump said “they want it in Jerusalem.. I am for that 100 percent.”

His remarks come despite having previously refused to commit to the idea during meeting with the Republican Jewish Coalition in December.

In 1995, America’s Congress passed a law allowing a potential move of the embassy to Jerusalem, but a presidential waiver on the issue has been exercised consistently.

Many countries have their embassies in Tel Aviv of any peace agreement that addresses the status of Jerusalem.

The comment was made in an interview with The Brody File, a Christian Broadcasting Network show.

He said on the Iranian nuclear deal: “I see what’s happening and I’m so saddened by this. It’s one of the worst deals I have ever seen under any circumstances.

I think it’s a tremendous liability to Israel. I think it’s actually going to lead to nuclear proliferation and it’s gonna cause a lot of problems.”

Trump also said he will “will be very good to Israel.

I have so many friends from Israel. I have won so many awards from Israel. I was even the grand marshal for the Israeli Day Parade a few years ago. So I will back Israel.”

Criticising current president Barack Obama as”the worst thing to ever happen to Israel”, he said his support for the Jewish state, adding: ” they’re our best ally in the middle east and they’ve really been loyal to us, we haven’t been loyal to them.”
