Double delight for Maccabi Tel Aviv

Maccabi celebrate completing winning the Israel State Cup

Maccabi Tel Aviv won their first Israeli State Cup in ten years as they secured a league and cup double for the first time since the 1995/96 season after beating Hapoel Beer Sheva 6-2 on Wednesday night.

A hat0trick from Rade Prica helped them to an emphatic 6-2 win, which came just three days after they retained their Israeli League title.

More than 32,000 fans at the Haifa International Stadium saw Yoav Ziv, Eran Zahavi and Maaran Radi, while Ovidiu Hoban and Maor Buzaglo replied for Beer Sheva.

Maccabi coach Ayestaran said: “Before the game I said to my players that it’s never easy to achieve goals but they are professionals, I told them I enjoyed this journey and thanked them. We should be proud of what we achieved – It’s time to celebrate.”
