Dr Ellie Cannon to appear in new show: Doctor In Your House

Dr Ellie Cannon will appear on our screens in a new Channel 4 show featuring a “diagnosis phobic” family, next week.

The Jewish News resident GP appears alongside Dr Xand Van Tulleken in Doctor In Your House.

Both were drafted in to stay with the White family for one weekend and help solve an array of health issues for the parents and two teenage daughters, ranging from snoring and cholesterol to high blood pressure and skin complaints.

“Essentially they are a family in denial about their health,” explained the Cambridge-educated doctor, who works in St John’s Wood. “There are no major problems to diagnose, but there’s a lot not right with them.

“It’s very common for people not to seek medical advice for softer health concerns, because our access to general practice is not what it used to be, people lead busy lives and they convince themselves that they are doing the right thing to solve issues – but that’s not always the case.”

The show also highlights how some of the family’s health issues can be resolved simply by changing their lifestyles and communicating with each other about their concerns.

Doctor in Your House is broadcast next Tuesday, 8pm on Channel 4
