Edgware youngsters claim intershul title

The two finalists, winners Edgware Sephardi Youth and runners-up Ohel Avraham

Edgware Sephardi Youth have been crowned the 2015 Yehuda Freedman Edgware Intershul 5-a-side football champions.

Battling with 13 other teams for the title, most of the shuls in Edgware, as well as a few from Stanmore headed down to the Mill Hill Powerleague centre, which hosted this year’s tournament, as Edgware Sephardi defeated last year’s winner, Ohel Avraham, 2-0 in the final.

Manager Dave Jacobs said: “I was very pleased to win this year after making it to the final and losing in 2013.”

Goalkeeper of the winning side, Joshua Jacob, was named the player of the tournament, which this year was sponsored by Melvin Jacobs. All profits from the event will go to a charity which supports struggling families from the Edgware area (especially during chagim) in the memory of Yehuda Freedman, who was a good friend of the event organiser David Tamman.

Tamman said: “Once again, most of the Edgware Shul teams came out in numbers for what was an excellent and competitive tournament that was played in excellent spirit, raised money for charity and also built on the great community that we have here in Edgware.”
