Minister’s hopes for Israel-UK teacher exchange programme

Rabbi Shai Piron, the Israeli Education Minister, has spoken of his vision for an exchange programme to involve teachers from his country and Britain during a visit to the UK last week.

Rabbi Shai Piron’s official trip was aimed at strengthening educational ties and between the two countries and included a working meeting with Michael Gove as well as Universities and Science minister David Willets.

He also attended the World Educational Forum’s Global Summit for Education Ministers, visited some of the capital’s leading Jewish educational institutions and met community leaders at the residence of Ambassador Daniel Taub.

Piron, who was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation from Israel’s Ministry of Education, said his aim was “to exchange ideas with his British counterparts, share Israel’s plans and take back important lessons”.
