Two former Israeli soldiers living in Miami are selling ‘Trump’ and ‘Clinton’ kippot and keeping a running tally of sales to gauge support levels of the two presidential candidates among American Jews.

Uri Turk and Yehuda Moskowitz, two former IDF lone soldiers (i.e. without close friends or family in Israel), were this week set to send sets of kippot to the two political teams of Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“We’re keeping a running ticker on our site of who sold more, a kind of bellwether of the American Jewish community showing which way Jews are leaning in the election,” said Turk, revealing that Trump was ahead with 91 kippot to Clinton’s 49.

The duo, who would not be drawn on which candidate would win the Battle of the Kippot 2016, said ten per cent of profits would go to the Lone Soldier Center.
