The London School of Jewish Studies (LSJS) is launching a four-week course for teenagers to equip them with the context to better understand Israel’s challenges.

Starting on 11 January, students will explore the reasons and circumstances of the founding of the State of Israel and cover its triumphs and challenges in the 21st century. They will come out better-informed and able to evaluate the news from Israel so they can make up their own minds.

Joanne Greenaway, LSJS chief executive, said: “Our teens are currently bombarded with sources of information and it is so hard for them to contextualise what they are seeing. We are so pleased to be able to offer an opportunity to understand what has got us to this place and to grapple with some of the difficult issues in a safe space and with such an experienced educator who can inform them whilst also nurturing their connection to Israel.”

The in person only course, entitled ‘History with a Heart: A deep dive for teens’, is being run by expert Israel educator Robin Moss, in partnership with Etgar Israel. Robin is one of the community’s leading Israel educators. He spent almost ten years at UJIA, leading on Israel engagement, and ran a range of programmes for thousands of young people and educators, including Israel tour leaders from across the political and religious spectrum.
