Families of the hostages held in Gaza traveled to Haag on Wednesday to urge the International Criminal Court to prosecute Hamas
The complaint against Hamas includes “taking hostages, enforced disappearance, crimes of sexual violence, torture, and more severe allegations.”
Ofri Bibas, the sister of Yarden Bibas who has been held hostage in Gaza with her husband and two sons, Kfir and Ariel Bibas, gave a statement to the media before departing, saying: “Two children, an infant and his older brother who didn’t know that there was evil in the world, are held with their parents by a terrorist organisation whose members murdered, tortured and raped.”
“The human monsters who harmed us and the members of our family are the successors of Hitler, Eichmann, and Goebbels, people who have already been brought to account. The time has now come to do this again. This is not just our story. If we don’t stop this, tomorrow it will be story of the entire world,” she added.
Udi Goren, cousin of 41-year-old hostage Tal Haimi, also spoke at the airport: “We want to … make sure that the leaders of Hamas are taken into custody or that they cannot leave Qatar anymore and that this puts pressure on them to release the hostages.”
ICC prosecutor Karim Khan has previously said that the court has jurisdiction over the Israel and Hamas, despite neither of them being members.
The hostage families forum will present the court with 1,000 pages of eyewitness testimonies and evidence from Hamas’ massacre and continued violations of human rights since.
