Files submitted to Polish prosecutor’s office urging ban on David Irving

A Jewish heritage expert working in Poland has called on the country’s national prosecutor to ban Holocaust denier David Irving from the country to stop him leading a tour of camps and Nazi sites in September.

British-born Israeli Jonny Daniels, who runs the Poland-based From the Depths Foundation, said “a clear and strong message that this is entirely unacceptable must be sent” as he lodged official documentation with the prosecutor’s office.

Daniels joins a long list of those appalled at the prospect of Irving leading a £3,000 per person tour of camps including Treblinka, Sobibor, Belzec and Majdanek.

“For such a person to want to lead tours of the German Nazi camps as some kind of deranged ‘proof’ is entirety unacceptable,” he said. “This is why we have applied to the Polish courts.”

He added: “Just as antisemites and hate-mongers are banned from entering the UK to spread their hate, so too should Poland deny entry to this despicable individual.”

Holocaust Survivor Edward Mosberg, 93, added his support, saying: “The notion that a brazen Holocaust denier, from the lowest dregs of society, should be able to walk on the grounds where millions of my brothers and sisters died so brutally at the hands of the German Nazis is a disgrace to their memory. We all must fight to make sure that this cannot happen.”
