Final list of candidates for Board elections announced

Hustings will be held featuring those running for roles of President, Vice President and Treasurer ahead of the 9 May vote

The final list of candidates has been announced for the Board of Deputies elections’ in May.

Honorary officers, including the President, Vice-President and Treasurer will be elected, following the closing of nominations last Friday.

President Marie van der Zyl will be challenged by Jonathan Neumann for the top job, while five candidates for the vice-presidency are vying for three spots.

Only one person was approved to be the next treasurer, succeeding Stuart MacDonald, who is now running to be VC. Ben Crowne will be interviewed for the role of treasurer.

Candidates for the vice-presidency will take part in a hustings event that will be live-streamed on Jewish News’ Facebook page, tomorrow.

They include incumbent Amanda Bowman, David Mendoza-Wolfson, Gary Mond, Richard Cohen and MacDonald. Current VP’s Sheila Gewolb has had two terms so is ineligible to stand again, while Edwin Shuker has chosen not to run for a second time.

There will be a hustings for the presidency on 4 May, before the election on 9 May.
