A 93-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with being an accessory to 300,000 murders at Auschwitz death camp.

Prosecutors claim Oskar Groening was based at the camp in May and June 1944.

At this time, around 425,000 Jews from Hungry were brought there and at least 300,000 were immediately murdered. Groening is accused of handling the personal belongings of these victims. He has spoken about his time as a guard but claims innocence.

Karen Pollock of the Holocaust Educational Trust said: “We are more aware than ever that time is running out to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
