The former head of the Independent Jewish Day School in Hendon has been appointed by the United Synagogue to deliver “creative activities” for schoolchildren and create links between schools and local communities.

Rabbi Cobi Ebrahimoff, widely known as Rav E, will become the Tribe Rabbi responsible for the organisation’s programming activity, in a role that will see him travel between the US and UK for residential Shabbatonim and camps.

David Collins, the United Synagogue’s director of Jewish living, said Ebrahimoff was “one of the Jewish community’s star educators… We already have an incredibly talented team working at Tribe and this appointment is a perfect fit.”

Ebrahimoff, who runs a school in Israel, said: “This is an extremely exciting role for me and I am very much looking forward to engaging a huge number of young Jews with the richness of our heritage. I want to inspire the next generation with a real connection to Jewish values rooted in a love of Torah and Israel.”
