Fox News reporter sacked after anti-semitic outburst on air

She made live comments about 'stingy' Jews, Mexicans immigrants and Chinese Americans

A Fox network sports reporter was sacked over the weekend after anti-Semitic and racist comments she made during a bizarre Facebook broadcast.

In the 35 minute car crash interview, filmed for Barstool Sports, a baseball website, Emily Austen describes a ‘stingy’ Jew she once served at a bar, expresses shock that a Mexican student had won an academic award – ‘I didn’t know Mexicans were that smart,’ she says – and claims that Chinese students are ‘always the best in maths class’.

The racist rant, filmed on Thursday, was removed from its initial Facebook page – Barstool claimed it had been accidentally deleted – although the footage later resurfaced elsewhere.

By the weekend Fox News had sacked the disgraced Florida-based broadcaster.

In a statement to the Tampa Bay Times, Fox Sports Florida’s senior vice president, Steve Tello, said: ‘We were made aware that Emily Austen appeared in a social media video unaffiliated with Fox Sports in which she made insensitive and derogatory comments.’

‘She was not speaking on behalf of Fox Sports, nor do we condone any of the statements she made in the video,’ he continued.
