United States

A New York court has heard how a man described as a ‘gay Jewish white supremacist’ violently harassed CNN anchorman Anderson Cooper (pictured, right). Convicted felon Alex Hausner, 40, who denies the allegations, was caught on security cameras screaming and trying to break in to Cooper’s flat.

Italy

A Jewish lawmaker has asked Italian authorities to investigate the behaviour of a physician well-known for his anti-Semitic views. Dr. Gianantonio Valli, 64, who describes himself as a ‘Nazi-inspired fascist,’ was singled out in parliament. Locals have launched a petition supporting Valli.

Slovakia

A festival of anti-Semitic literature in Slovakia was funded by Hungary’s ruling party Fidesz, according to the Hungarian Spectrum website. Texts on Jews and Freemasons, Henry Ford’s ‘The International Jew’ and ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion’ were reportedly among the books on display.

Australia

Jewish groups have voiced concern about Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s new policy on asylum seekers, which diverts boat arrivals to Papua New Guinea. The Organisation of Rabbis of Australasia (ORA) said Jews ‘must be exceedingly sensitive to the plight of refugees.’

Greece

The far-right Greek political party Golden Dawn has caused outrage by playing the official anthem of the Nazi party during a charity food handout in Athens attended by more than 2,000 people. Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias described Golden Dawn as a ‘pathetic copy of Nazi totalitarianism.’

Belgium

Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, an active supporter of the anti-Israel boycott movement, held a concert in Belgium over the weekend in which he released a giant pig-shaped black balloon with the Star of David adorned on it. Israeli fans who attended said ‘he crossed the line’ this time.
