Game of Scones: Stacey keeps Bake Off spot with glitter cookies

Week two in the iconic tent and Stacey had some ground to make up after previously failing to measure up.

The first challenge saw her baking 24 identical sparkly chocolate and marshmallow fluff cookies, which found favour with the judges who thought they ticked all the boxes of a perfect sandwich biscuit. In spite of Paul’s aversion to the glitter adorning the tops, he commended them for being crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, while boasting a perfectly set marshmallow.

Buoyed by her newfound confidence, Stacey then set about the technical challenge; 12 fortune cookies in two hours. However, her ‘raw’ offerings that failed the snap test and could be unfolded by hand saw her once again holding up the rear at an unimpressive ninth place of eleven contestants.

A functioning biscuit board game offered the final chance of the week to redeem herself and Stacey opted to recreate an edible game she invented called Get To School, featuring both chocolate and vanilla sweet treats. However, while Prue deemed it aesthetically ‘exquisite’, Paul slammed it for tasting bland and said the texture was all wrong.

That said, while unsurprisingly failing to make Star Baker for a second week, her sparkly biscuits dazzled the judges enough to keep her place in the competition for now.
