‘Hitler hoodies’ taken down by major online retailer
Simon Wiesenthal Center called on Vova to 'immediately destroy all supplies' of the item accusing it of 'banalisation of this archetype of hate'
A major online retailer has removed ‘Hitler hoodies’ from its site after sparking outrage.
The VOVA website had listed the item described as ‘Casual Adolf Hitler Funny Graphic Hoodies’.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Dr. Shimon Samuels, expressed anger, writing to the company’s headquarters in London, its offices in Hong Kong and its press office in Paris.
He said VOVA “betrayed” its mission of being a “trusted company”, saying “the banalisation of this archetype of hate and discrimination is scathing”.
SWC called on VOVA “to immediately destroy all supplies of the Hitler hoodie, investigate and cut all contacts with the delinquent company. An apology is due to the Jewish community, lest the ‘Hitler hoodie’ becomes a symbol for neo-Nazi and white supremacist hate.”
“We await your measures,” Samuels wrote.
On its website the ‘Hitler hoodie’ item is currently listed as “out of stock”.
VOVA said the item had been “permanently removed”, but declined to comment further.
