The Holocaust Educational Trust held its annual ambassadors’ conference online this week, just days before a raft of measures to ease the coronavirus lockdown.

The charity takes thousands of youngsters to Auschwitz-Birkenau annually and many subsequently decide to become ambassadors, taking the learning and lessons of the trip back to their communities.

This year their conference took place virtually, with a range of celebrity speakers such as the BBC’s Nick Robinson, with a moving final session with Holocaust survivor Mala Tribich planned.

HET’s Karen Pollock said the conference was designed to help the ambassadors “continue in their journey to carry the legacy of the past, learn more about defending the truth of the past and discuss how to be leaders for the future”.
