Holy post! Holiday prayers delivered to Western Wall

Dozens of letters addressed to God were delivered to the cracks in Judaism's holiest site in Jerusalem's old city

Prayer papers in the western wall

Israel’s postal service is delivering letters to a unique address that has not changed in thousands of years.

Ahead of the Jewish high holidays, the service took some of the dozens of letters it receives each year addressed to God and delivered them to the Western Wall, where visitors traditionally place handwritten notes of prayer and wishes in the cracks between the stones.

The letters arrived from all over the world, including Russia, China, France, Nigeria and the US. Most had no return address and were addressed to God, Jesus or Our Dear Father in Heaven. The Western Wall, in Jerusalem’s Old City, is a retaining wall of the compound housing the biblical temples. It is one of the Holy Land’s most-visited sites.
