Hundreds of Charedim to attend Covid ‘mass vax’ after Shabbat

Event organised by Jewish emergency first aid group Hatzola seeks to encourage people to get the jab

Hundreds of people from the strictly Orthodox community are expected to attend a special COVID vaccination event, being held at the John Scott Vaccination Centre in Green Lanes, Hackney, after Shabbat on Saturday, February 13.

The “mass vax” is jointly sponsored by the Jewish emergency first aid and ambulance service, Hatzola, in partnership with the City and Hackney Confederation.

Vaccinations will begin at 8.30pm and continue until midnight; the vaccines will be given by Hatzola volunteers and health professionals from the community.

Bookings — via Hatzola — are preferred, but publicity material says some walk-ins slots may be available. Those eligible for the vaccines are people over 65, clinically extremely vulnerable, carers, and people who work with the public in charitable or voluntary roles.

Hatzola can be reached at 0203 603 4111 extension 1.
