IN PICTURES: Students get ‘deeper understanding’ of Israel on UJS political trip
The Union of Jewish Students ran its political trip to Israel – Manighut – taking 14 students to learn about political dynamics and complexities in the region.
The group, all interested in activism on campus, paid visits to the Western Wall and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Russell Langer, UJS Campaigns Director, said: “Manhigut provides our strong student activists with the opportunity to hear a wide spectrum of perspectives while developing their knowledge and skills.”

During the trip, the participants discussed issues with journalists and politicians, including Haviv Gur, a Political Analyst at Times of Israel and the Managing Director of Portland Trust in Ramallah, Kamel Husseini.
Dylan Itzikowitz, Exchange student from Toronto at Nottingham, stated: “The prestige and credentials of the speakers have surpassed my expectations”
First year Leeds student, Avigail Kohn, said: “Everyone should go on Manhigut to better understand the conflict.”
Manighut took place between 21-28 June.
