Investigation over ‘serious concerns’ in seminary’s accounts
The Manchester institution will be probed by the Charity Commission over the accuracy of its figures and other information
The Charity Commission has launched a statutory investigation into Jewish Seminary for Girls, based in Manchester, after “serious concerns” were raised about its accounts.
The Seminary, which “promotes the Jewish faith amongst Jewish girls and women between the ages of 15 and 25,” had previously been investigated for not submitting its accounts for almost three years.
After its belated submission in November last year, the Charity Commission has scrutinised the institution’s accounts “and other information obtained”.
The regulator has now concluded that there are “serious concerns as to whether the charity’s accounts present an accurate picture of the charity’s financial activities and whether assets currently, or previously, belonging to the charity have been adequately accounted for”.
