Israel-based humanitarian aid agency IsrAID sent a team to Sierra Leone this week to help the fight the spread of Ebola.

The organisation will provide psycho-social support training to local social workers dealing with the anxiety of communities affected by the world’s worst outbreak of the disease, which has already claimed more than 2,600 lives in West Africa.

IsraAID will also be working to raise awareness of hygiene to prevent further spread of the disease.

There are more than 4,000 reported cases in Liberia and Sierra Leone alone.

A statement said: “During the past few weeks IsraAID has been in discussions with local government officials in Sierra Leone and Liberia as well as with the UN and the international medical relief teams to better understand what is needed.”
