Israel approves 176 Jewish apartments in West Bank
Jerusalem committee gives green light for new buildings in predominantly Palestinian neighbourhood
A municipal planning committee approved building permits for 176 housing units in a Jewish neighbourhood of predominantly Arab eastern Jerusalem.
The expansion announced Wednesday will create the largest Jewish settlement enclave in a Palestinian neighbourhood in the city, according to reports. There are currently 91 housing units in the Nof Zion neighbourhood of Jabel Mukaber.
Construction will not begin anytime soon because of a dispute among the landowners, Haaretz reported.
