Israel rages against Hamas propaganda video showing three elderly hostages
'I don't understand why we have been abandoned here,' Chaim Peri, 79, says in the video
Hamas has released another propaganda video of three Israeli hostages in Gaza who are begging to be released.
Chaim Peri, 79, Amiram Cooper, 84, and Yoram Metzger, 80 are all seen in the video, looking frail and pale, with long beards. All of them were abducted from their homes in kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7.
“I am here with a group of older people, they all have chronic illnesses and are living in very harsh conditions. We are the generation who built the foundation of Israel. We were the ones who started the IDF. I don’t understand why we have been abandoned here,” Cham Peri says in the video.
Yoram Metzger’s son, Rani, reacted to the video after it was released saying his father looked “years older” and that he isn’t in a “good condition. Everything must be done to bring [the hostages] home,” he told KAN Public Broadcaster.
IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari lambasted the video as “atrocious terror.”
“It shows the cruelty of Hamas against elderly civilians, innocents, who require medical attention. The world must work to allow medical aid and to verify their condition,” he added.
U.S. National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby reiterated Hagari’s statement, saying it was another example of Hamas’ “depravity and their brutality against innocent life.”
