A north London school for students with special educational needs has returned from its first tour of Israel.

Kisharon Noé School took eight pupils on the trip of a lifetime – two of whom had never been to Israel before – making the tour even more special.

Accompanied by five staff members, from the moment the group stepped on the plane their adventure begun with ELAL staff inviting the children to see the cockpit.

Trip highlights included attending a Bar Mitzvah ceremony at the Kotel, being greeted and escorted into the old city of Jerusalem, a visit to Ashdod beach, where the group went surfing and every pupil joined in, planting trees and learning the story of the Jewish people at the Meorot Interactive Museum of Jewish heritage.

Staff arranged for family members and friends living in Israel to meet up with the group, and additionally pupils spent time with the Gvanim schools that have a mutally support friendship with Kisharon Noé School.

Deputy Headteacher, Adina Collins said:“It was a privilege to plan, lead and pioneer the first ever Kisharon Israel tour. Bringing this opportunity to our pupils has been like a dream come true for myself, the parents and most importantly for our pupils.

“I want to thank Gvanim school for initiating the conversations of the exchange between the schools as well as mention my incredible colleagues who worked alongside me to ensure that this trip ran safely and smoothly for it’s duration.

The parents of the pupils who attended have been supportive and have showed their overwhelming gratitude for the school’s hard work in providing this opportunity for their children. Seeing the pupils arrive safely in Israel and explore the Jewish homeland was heart warming and we have all made memories that will be treasured for the rest of our lives”.

Pupil Micah said: “The Israel trip was excellent; my favourite part was seeing family and hanging out with my teachers and new friends Noam and Ariel from Gvanim school in Ashdod.”

Raphael said: “I loved surfing, going to the Kotel and seeing all the Bar Mitzvah boys celebrating and dancing”.

Chanochi added: “I can’t believe Kisharon has helped me to live my dream of going to Israel. My dreams came true by going to the Kotel.”

Kisharon Noé School looks forward to providing a similar opportunity when Gvanim pupils come to the UK in June and is planning another Kisharon Noé Tour to Israel in the future.
