VIDEO: Israeli man stabbed at Chabad headquarters in New York

Intruder confronts members at Chabad New York headquarters

An Israeli man was stabbed in the early hours of Tuesday morning by an intruder at Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters in New York.

The attacker, a black male believed to be homeless, entered the centre’s study hall and stabbed 22 year-old Levy Yitzchok several times in the upper body.

The ensuing stand-off ended when the attacker was shot by police. He was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

The victim, who was stabbed in the side of the head, suffering sustained bleeding but remained conscious.

A witness told of the suspect entering the complex screaming: “I will kill the Jew, I want to kill the Jew.”

The victim of the stabbing is identified as Levy Yitzchok, aged 22, of Beitar Illit, Israel.

Video of the incident published on YouTube shows the attacker brandishing the knife at Chabad members before being confronted by armed police.

He is then shot after refusing to put down the knife.
